July 22, 2014 1:57 pm

If you’ve ever wondered what’s going on behind your favorite MP3s, take a trip to the amazing Museum of Making Music. This unique Carlsbad museum—one of the city’s hidden treasures—gives visitors a peek inside the history of American popular music in the United States, from sheet music salesmen in the 1800s, to the rise of jazz, rock, and pop in the 20th century. Hundreds of amazing artifacts are on display, with just about every musical instrument you could name represented. An audio tour provides more in-depth facts about what you are looking at, and the museum is also full of interactive segments, including a great performance area at the end that allows visitors to compose their own tunes. The Museum of Making Music also serves as host to a wide variety of seminars and performances by local musicians, as well as an incredibly popular summer music camp.
